I am thrilled to extend a heartfelt welcome to you all. My name is Davina Woods, and I am honored to reconnect with Hancock Central Middle School in a new capacity. With 27 years of dedication to advancing educational standards within the Hancock County School District (HCSD), I am excited to embark on this journey with you.
Throughout my career, I have been privileged to receive recognition for my commitment to excellence, including being named Special Education Teacher of the Year and achieving commendations for the highest Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) scores. These achievements reflect not only my passion for education but also my unwavering dedication to the success of every student.
As the former Special Education Director, I led initiatives to develop the district's first Response to Intervention (RTI) Manual and implement sustainable RTI processes, ensuring the preservation of vital federal funding. Additionally, my role as Team Lead for the Hancock Central High School and Middle School Accreditation Teams allowed me to facilitate the timely submission of crucial documentation to AdvancED. Beyond administrative duties, I have had the privilege of nurturing the artistic talents of our students as the Founder, Director, and Musician of the Hancock Central Choruses. It has been a joy to witness our students shine on platforms like the Reggie Gay Gospel Show.
My educational journey, from earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Columbia College to obtaining a Masters of Interrelated Special Education and Specialist in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University, has equipped me with the tools to lead with excellence and integrity. My educational philosophy, rooted in progressivism, emphasizes the importance of individuality, progress, and change in the learning process. I firmly believe in tailoring curricula to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of our students, fostering a culture of active engagement and continuous growth.
As a parent of four children educated within the district, I understand firsthand the profound impact of a quality education. My personal investment in our district's success drives me to work tirelessly to ensure that every student receives the support and opportunities they need to thrive. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in this new capacity and look forward to collaborating with each of you to continue fostering a culture of excellence and empowerment in education.
